Migration to Unreal Engine
Hello everyone,
Firstly I would like to apologise for the lack of updates over the past month or so, I have been off on holiday in the UK. I have just arrived back in Australia, and I am continuing to work on development of the game. I do have a major announcement to make regarding the game's development, however.
After a lot of consideration, I have decided to migrate the game's development to Unreal Engine 5. So far I have been working on developing the game in Unity, as I have many years of experience with it. The more I have worked on the game, however, the more appealing Unreal Engine seems for the game's further development.
There are a variety of factors that led to me making this decision, but the main reason is due to the graphics capabilities. Let me just be completely clear for a moment. I want my game to look really fucking cool. Unfortunately, Unity's universal render pipeline is not designed for the level of graphics I want. I looked into using the high definition render pipeline, but it is designed for high-end PCs and consoles, and I want my game to be as accessible as possible.
Unreal has simply been better optimised for high-quality graphics at lower performance cost. I've been deliberating over whether or not to make this switch for a while now but I think although it will be difficult getting used to a new engine, it will save me a lot of time optimising in the long run.
I hope I will be able to provide you with some more updates on the game's development soon!
